Student Accommodation building 5 (SA5) was conceptualised by the ANU, and its lodge operator for the building UniLodge, to improve the experience of students staying on Campus while maintaining the same project footprint. The 500 bed building was developed to include communal kitchen and dining facilities, unisex bathrooms, shared study spaces whilst reducing room size and facilities, to increase the collaboration within such a large building. S4B worked collaboratively with the design team to develop this new brief for the ANU and UniLodge as well as consulting on the options as part of the consulting journey.
In addition, the construction timeframe was compressed meaning the design needed to be modularised to assist in the simplified and accelerated delivery required to achieve the planned student intakes, committed by UniLodge. We then assisted Cockram and their sub-contractors in the timely delivery of the building under the tight time pressures.
The project was delivered on time and on budget and has proven a successful development for both UniLodge and the ANU. This has culminated in the resale of the property from the ANU.
